Argentea Gallery is pleased to present Gökhan Tanriöver’s debut solo exhibition Confessionals. Comprising a series of still life photographs, Tanriöver constructs striking imagery informed by personal experience and memory.
Working with analogue, the studio and the darkroom serve as the physical space where his meditative state acts as a form of auto-therapy. Here his childhood memories, first presented as a textual confession, are used to construct an image as a method of understanding his personal and cultural identity.
Gökhan Tanrıöver is a Turkish-born photographic artist based in London. He is currently pursuing his MA Photography at the Royal College of Art. His work has been exhibited in various group shows including the Peaches and Cream Photography Prize at Photofusion (2017) and Separation and Belonging as part of Whitechapel Gallery’s First Thursdays (2016). Tanrıöver was shortlisted for the Peaches and Cream Photography Competition and selected as a finalist in the Royal Photographic Society International Photography Exhibition 160 (both 2017).
